Leaky D
So after a long period of only minor progress being made on D we have recently made some massive steps into the work that needed doing.
D is now all backup and running, with a few more nice modifications under its bonnet, such as an AIRTEC oil breather system, incorporating an oil separator and catch can, a high-pressure fuel rail with the 440cc injectors fitted, an external oil cooler fitter behind the front bumper (this also increases the total oil capacity of the engine, now over 8 liters), PRO ALLOY boost hoses, good job we had these as when stripping D down we found that our old hoses had been rubbing on the radiator and slam panel, and would have probably failed this year at some point, this is due to the engine bay being quite packed with the new engine.
Also, when stripping D down we noticed that the radiator had started to leak, this too would have failed this year if we hadn’t noticed it, so a quick look on the internet saw a DIRENZA alloy radiator heading our way.
Some serious fabrication work took place at the rear of the car too, seeing the rear wheel arches relieved of around 2 inches of metal and then welded back up, why we needed to do this will become apparent when D is unveiled this summer, but trust us when we say that it will be worth it.
We managed to also refit the headlining to the interior, without removing the roll cage, which was a bit tricky but did save us some extra work, there are also a couple of nice new touches to the interior, but once again you will have to wait to find out what these are.
The look of D is changing very slightly, but we promise you that it will certainly look more aggressive than it has ever done before, and we still have more little plans for aesthetics later in the year, we will be working closely once again with the amazing Matt Coates at MGC MODIFICATIONS for these.
We still have a long way to go until D is show ready, but we are always making progressive steps, no matter how small or large, look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming shows.
